Terraforming Wiki

Moon-Hauling.[]

"Terraforming Io would likely only be possible if it was moved to be Venus's moon"

If you can move an entire moon across the solar system, neck-deep in Jupiter's gravity well, then you wouldn't have any issues terraforming Io in the first place. What is the basis for this move? Io's average temperature isn't much above 150K, but it receives tidal heading and the surface is warmed by outflows of lava. In any case, I'd rather move an icy moon to thaw out, rather than a thoroughly dry one.

I'd like to add that this terraforming wiki needs some serious revision and fact-checking. Some of these pages I've read are downright juvenile in quality of writing, typical of "wedded to the idea" authors cramming in their own surefire methods to alter whole planets. While speculation is fun and all, the authors (to stretch the definition here, a stubby paragraph does not an author make) evidentally have not done their research, or at the most done nothing more than a cursory glance at the Real Wiki's page for Io.

I do agree with this "Terraformer" and I have come up with some strange, strange ideas of how to terraform in the past. Ace 02:06, September 25, 2011 (UTC)
