The motion of a celestial body is the apparent trajectory it follows on the sky, as seen from a planet or moon. Retrograde motion is different from the orbit of a Retrograde Planet.

As seen from the Earth's sky, outer planets move ahead (prograde) compared to fixed stars, then stop and turn retrograde, then stop again and turn progrde. This is clearly seen for the gas giants. However, if the observer is placed outside (for example on Pluto), the proper motions of the gas giants will be like those of Mercury and Venus seen from Earth.
