Nereid, also known as Neptune II, is the third-largest moon of Neptune. It has a highly eccentric orbit. Nereid was discovered by Gerard Kuiper in 1949 and was the second moon of Neptune to be discovered.Nereid was discovered on May 1, 1949, by Gerard P. Kuiper, on photographic plates taken with the 82-inch telescope at the McDonald Observatory. He proposed the name in the report of his discovery. It is named after the Nereids, sea-nymphs of Greek mythology and attendants of the god Neptune. It was the second and last moon of Neptune to be discovered before the arrival of Voyager 2 (not counting a single observation of an occultation by Larissa in 1981).Nereid orbits Neptune in the prograde direction at an average distance of 5,513,400 km (3,425,900 mi), but its high eccentricity of 0.7507 takes it as close as 1,372,000 km (853,000 mi) and as far as 9,655,000 km (5,999,000 mi) from the planet.Nereid is Neptune's third-largest satellite and has an average radius of about 170 kilometres (110 mi). Nereid has a mixure of ice and water.Nereid also has a rockey surface. The rockey surface could lead up to large seas.

Terraforming Nereid will be hard orless we have people living on Triton. The rreason why it will be harder than Proteus because it is at a far from Neptune and eccentric orbit. 170 km is realy great for and object.Nereid will be terraform by sending a probe from terraformed Triton. It will likely be at its closes distance.Fisrt we will have to get rid of any irregular shape that this moon has.We will be making a new core below the surface. It will also have a simular process to Proteus. It will have two replinishing sky disk that will light up at night just like Proteus. This will give time and give it a better chance of creating new life forms and not just single sell life. This moon could be the first eccentric terraformed moon in history,
